Our space and our future
Our current 10-year lease ends in October 2026. We're exploring what comes next.
The lease
The most likely path is renewing our current lease and staying where we are, but we're open to exploring alternatives. If you spot any interesting spaces, we'd love to hear about them.
A space we could own
In an ideal world, we'd find a space that some of us could buy together. If you're interested in that, or have experience with commercial property, we'd really love to hear from you.
Ownership & leadership
We're exploring different ownership and leadership models. About 14% of The Skiff is already owned by around 140 people who were members back in 2018.
The next 19 years
The most important thing is that The Skiff is still around and still working in another 19 years. We're not precious about keeping our roles if others want to step up.
Things we can do sooner
The Skiff 5.0 isn't just about long-term plans. There are plenty of things we can improve now.
Climate control
Getting the temperature in the space just right.
Less clutter
Reducing clutter and making the space feel a bit more polished.
Refresh & replace
Refreshing or replacing things that have seen better days.
Better call spaces
Creating better spaces for calls and meetings.
Welcoming new members
Helping new members get to know people more quickly. The more names you know, the better.
Community spirit
Various Skiffmates have taken responsibility for different aspects of how the space runs. We'd love to see more of that.
